OWNDAYS has recently introduced Clear Vision lenses, which offer up to eight hours of comfortable wear thanks to their moisture-retaining hyaluronic acid. According to Mr Toh, this compound helps retain water, prevent tear evaporation, reduce protein absorption on the eye’s surface, and promote uninterrupted blinking.
These lenses also provide excellent UV protection, blocking 80% of UVA rays and 95% of UVB rays. This is especially important in sunny climates like Singapore, where prolonged sun exposure can increase the risk of eye conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygium. Mr Toh emphasized the importance of using UV-coated contact lenses to safeguard long-term eye health.
The Clear Vision range has expanded to include Clear Vision Advance lenses, which offer improved oxygen permeability due to their composition. Mr Toh explained that these silicone hydrogel lenses deliver more oxygen to the cornea compared to traditional hydrogel lenses. This not only promotes corneal health but also reduces the risk of complications such as corneal swelling and ulcers.
The Advance line also features a hydrophilic hydrogel coating that helps reduce protein deposits, minimizing the potential for eye irritation. Mr Toh highlighted that the moisture-rich environment of these lenses discourages the adhesion of deposits, making them ideal for individuals with dry or sensitive eyes. Additionally, the Advance series offers enhanced tensile strength, providing increased resistance to chipping and tearing.
In addition to these features, OWNDAYS has also developed lenses that help manage blue light exposure. Blue light, emitted by electronic devices, can cause eye strain and disrupt sleep patterns. By incorporating blue light-filtering technology into their lenses, OWNDAYS aims to protect the eyes from the harmful effects of prolonged screen time.
